BINGLEY WEEKENDER 2019

WHAT A WEEKEND!

After it was announced that Bingley Music Live would not take place in 2019 people were up in arms. Not only was it a big disappointment to the usual festival goers, it was a big loss to Bingley businesses.

But then...

SSD Concerts and Bradford and Bingley Rugby club pulled together to create Bingley Weekender and what a festival it was too!

When I found out I had been accepted for media accreditation to photograph the weekend, I was excited but a little skeptical, as I'm sure many other regular attendees to the old Bingley Music Live were too.

On Friday I arrived with my little family in tow and decided I'd stand and queue with everyone else. When 4pm arrived, nobody was being let in and the crowds were becoming a little miffed - 4.30pm came, still no entry. .  . I began to think "oh no, is it going to be one of those weekends?" but, at 4.45pm - yes we were finally allowed to enter!

My first impressions were "I'm really not sure about this" but when I entered the main field, they quickly changed to "WOW!! This is going to be amazing".

This year's festival had 3 different stages which were all spaced out perfectly. The ground was flat, so no hills to climb up and down which meant much easier access for families and individuals with disabilities.  At Bingley Music Live, once people got into the main area of Myrtle park, they tended to stay there, meaning less of an audience for the smaller introducing stage, whereas here it was easy to move from one stage to another and catch as many of the great bands on offer as possible.

There were a few hiccups along the way, which is to be expected for a festival in its first year, but given the time constraints encountered with the late cancellation of Bingley Music Live, overall it was a great success and I am sure next year will be even better!

Here are just a few of the hundreds of images I managed to capture of this amazing weekend ....

Enjoy!
