Hello! Im Amanda, The face behind Polka Dot Studios.
I am newborn, baby and child photographer with a studio situated in Bingley, West Yorkshire.
I have always been a creative person and loved art and photography, I guess growing up around my Grandad who was also an artist, rubbed off on me.
Ever since I had my little boy, who is now Five, I have lived and breathed photography.
For 12 years I worked in health and social care and I also offered respite care for children with disabilities. As rewarding as this was my creative side was surfacing, so I trained and qualified in Dog grooming and successfully ran my own business for a number of years, I was also filmed dog grooming for channel 5's Dog rescuers (How cool is that?!) Now you may ask yourself, Dog grooming? Really? How can that be creative? but dog grooming is an art in its own right and a very highly skilled job!
I started photography part time alongside my dog grooming business and I used to produce beautiful calender's for my customers year after year which they absolutely adored.
In 2015 my beautiful little boy Ethan was born, as a new mum I found myself wanting to capture every little thing that he did and I have thousands of pictures to prove it!
(You cant imagine the amount of photo files I have stored away)
This is when Polka Dot Studios was born, my second baby!
A few years ago I developed quite a life changing condition, which sadly ended my career as a dog groomer. Since then I have built up a stunning portfolio of images from various weddings and photo sessions. I have won 5 prestigious wedawards and I have been published numerous times in Photoshoot magazine as well as Belle bridal and Brides up North and had coverage in the Telegraph and argos for my charity event with Kim's animal rescue.
When i'm not photographing, I am a mum and wife and I also have 2 very demanding fur-babies. You will often see me photographing Ethan for upcoming mini sessions, and although he used to have "Photographers child syndrome" which basically means he never wanted to model for me, hes now an absolute natural in front of the camera and I must say my skills are rubbing off on him as he is often seen walking around taking a variety of photos on his very own v-tech camera (these usually consists of up his own nose or the dogs) but you have to start somewhere right?
So now you know a little about me, I look forward to meeting you soon.
